NEW RIDER COURSE
WHAT TO EXPECT

When you take a New Rider Course at the Riding Academy you’ll:
  • Learn to ride on a genuine Harley-Davidson® motorcycle.
  • Get in-class and on-range instruction from Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and H-D® Certified Coaches.
  • Learn to safely accelerate, shift, brake, and turn, along with maneuvers like controlling skids and surmounting obstacles.
  • Earn an MSF Basic RiderCourseSM Completion Card, which may (varies by state) exempt you from the riding portion of your license exam and score you a discount on motorcycle insurance.
Riding Academy® New Rider Course Cancellation Policy and Program Requirements
Cancellation and Refund Policy:
For any reason, a customers can cancel their reservation up to two weeks prior to their scheduled course. If cancelled after the two week deadline for any reason, a refund is not offered. However, they will be eligible to be placed on our “stand-by list.”
Program Requirements and Rules:
Each Class has a limit of 10 students.
After start of class, no student substitutions allowed.
Each class includes two nights of classroom and two days of range time to be completed consecutively. Date splitting is not permitted.
Riding Academy® coaches reserve the right to counsel out unsafe students they deem dangerous to themselves, other students, equipment or instructors. If counseled out, no refund will be granted.
No refunds or make up dates are offered to those who leave the class of their own free will without written consent from instructors.
Stand-by List Policy:
If you must cancel your reservation after the two week cancellation policy, you will be put on a stand by-list. Students will then be notified when a student cancels their reservation within the "two week no refund period." Notice is typically short but it will be offered to the stand-by student in order of cancellation and is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Payment Policy: Payment is due at the time of registration either on-line, call in or in store.

What will I need to register?

You'll need a valid automobile driver's license or learner's permit, and have the ability to ride a bicycle.

Do I need any special gear?

You'll need to bring the following:

  • A heavy, long-sleeve shirt or jacket
  • Jeans, chaps, or leather pants
  • Over-the-ankle, sturdy footwear
  • Full-fingered gloves
  • A helmet that meets DOT requirements
  • Eyewear

SKILLED RIDER COURSE
WHAT TO EXPECT

Designed solely for experienced riders, this eight-hour 1- or 2-day course is taught by dedicated Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and H-D Certified Coaches.

You’ll learn advanced tips and techniques to help you own the road.
  • Control at low speeds
  • Risk management
  • Limited-space maneuvers
  • Cornering judgment
  • Swerving and stopping quickly on straights and in curves
  • Multiple curve maneuvers and surmounting objects

When you’re done, you’ll not only ride with more confidence than ever, you’ll earn an MSF Basic RiderCourseSM 2 Completion Card that may qualify you for a discount on motorcycle insurance.
